Protea Surveying Instruments, formed in 1986 by Dirk van der Walt, is a family run survey supply business based to the East of Johannesburg and has grown organically over the 20 years since its inception, and today plays a major role in the supply and after sales support of a broad range of equipment which includes traditional survey equipment, the latest technology GPS products, machine control, laboratory equipment and soil testing.
With a commitment to quality and professional service, the company has gained acceptance as a supplier, with more than 300 clients including many of the major companies in South Africa. With a large and growing export business, Protsurv has branches located in several of the adjoining countries.
Large fully equipped workshops provide a full range of services for repair and calibration of equipment, all carried out strictly in accordance with supplier criteria and internationally approved codes of practice. The Protsurv Laboratory has achieved calibration accreditation ISO specification ISO/IEC 17025, for both Density and Dimensional categories of approval by SANAS, the South African National Accreditation System authority.
Technology - new and old - form the basis of Protsurv’s daily operations and we ensure that overseas principles are professionally represented at all times through training our personnel regularly. Technical training has almost exclusively been provided by the equipment manufacturer either by visiting specialists or at the supplier offices in the country of origin.
